A session lasts about one hour. The client relaxes on a massage table, fully clothed, while the practitioner gently places his or her hands on or slightly above the body. The pattern is designed to balance the energy centers of the body and send energy to all major organs.
Hand placements begin at the top of the head and move down various key places of the body extending to the soles of the feet. The client can have a variety of experiences, which range from sensations of heat, cold, tingling, color visualization and spontaneous memory recall.
Reiki can only be understood through personal experience. It is usually an empowering event that is followed by a sense of peace.
